Commercially savvy and creatively spirited, Midwinter Films works across the Australasian region to develop and produce scripted screen content for the local and international marketplace. We specialise in scripted content for kids, family and discerning younger adult audiences.
Midwinter Films engages filmmakers with exceptional vision and storytelling skills, and nurtures both established and emerging writers and directors.
‘The Butterfly Tree’, Midwinter Film’s first feature film, by debut writer/director Priscilla Cameron and starring Melissa George, Ewen Leslie, Ed Oxenbould and Sophie Lowe, premiered at Melbourne International Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival in 2017. ‘Over and Out’ won Best Short Form at Canneseries in 2019.
Much loved family film, ‘H is for Happiness’ by writer/producer Lisa Hoppe and starring Miriam Margolyes, Emma Booth, Richard Roxburgh, Joel Jackson and newcomers Daisy Axon and Wes Patten, won Best Film at Cinefest Oz, was nominated for 10 AACTA Awards and received the Jury Special Mention Prize in the KPlus section at Berlinale.
