Teenaged science-nerd Josh and his wayward big sister Stacy, move from the country to a mining boom town plagued by strange events; cars mysteriously crushed in the night and animals disappearing. The pair fall in with a gang of rebellious misfits, who introduce them to an alluring world of teen mischief. When people start going missing, Josh discovers a giant mutant cane toad living in a polluted swamp, but his story is met with disbelief by local authorities, who are firmly in the pocket of 'Tass Mining'; the corrupt company responsible for creating the monster, and trying desperately to cover up their mess. Josh finds an ally in his new science teacher Mr Taft (former Tass employee, turned anti-fracking activist) and together, they must find a way to kill the monster before it can spawn and wreak havoc on the town.
